Neuroscience urilizes tools ranging from computers to special dyes, to electrical recordings to complex imaging techniques to examine molecules, nerve cells, networks, brain systems, development, learning and memory and behaviour.
Today, Neuroscience is one of the fastest growing and most exciting areas in biomedical research. Groundbreaking discoveries have transformed our understanding of the healthy brain and helped to deliver treatments for disorders affecting millions of people. This surge in interest is partly fuelled by the desire to understand basic mechanisms of brain function and partly by the need to provide effective relief for neurological conditions and diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, epilepsy and chronic pain.
